Shiraz Blueberry Cranberry Sauce made with frozen blueberries and fresh cranberries is naturally sweetened with honey and spiced with cinnamon and cloves. You’re going to love the intoxicating sweetness and tartness!
It’s November. You know what that means. Fresh cranberries are in your local grocery store and it’s time to make homemade cranberry sauce. I didn’t think cranberry sauce could get any better until I made this Shiraz Blueberry Cranberry Sauce recipe.
Talk about intoxicating and delicious! Yes, and rightly so, because the blueberry sweetness pairs wonderfully with the tartness of the cranberries. Toss in red Shiraz wine, honey, cinnamon, and cloves and the miracle occurs.
This blueberry cranberry sauce is so delicious that it tempted me to eat the whole batch the day I made it. And I thought I already had the perfect cranberry sauce with my Cutie Orange Cranberry Sauce with Honey recipe. Trust me, both are super tasty. Who says you can’t serve two cranberry sauces for Thanksgiving or Christmas?
The best part about this blueberry cranberry sauce recipe (just like my cutie cranberry sauce recipe) is that it’s healthy and made without highly processed sugar. The cranberries are naturally sweetened with honey, liquid stevia, and the blueberries. The Shiraz red wine adds richness and superb depth of flavor.
Now it’s time for me to fess up as I did not create this recipe. It’s one I adapted and lightened-up from a fantastic blog post, Cabernet Cranberry and Blueberry Sauce, by Averie Cooks. When I spotted her recipe and amazing photos, I knew I had to make this blueberry cranberry sauce.
If you are not familiar with this well established blog operated by Averie Sunshine, you need to check out her site. Averie offers an extensive library of fantastic recipes as she has blogged since 2009. Her stunning photography will make your mouth water and inspire you to cook. Oh yes, one of my favorite bloggers!
Tip: Speaking of cranberries, did you know that you can freeze fresh cranberries? And it is so simple. Just freeze them in the original plastic bag or place in airtight freezer bags or containers. They will keep for about a year in the freezer. So buy a few extra bags of fresh cranberries and toss in the freezer so you can make this tasty blueberry cranberry sauce recipe all year long.
Look at those gorgeous red cranberries!

Cranberries are very low in calories. Besides their fiber and nutrients, cranberries have an amazing array of phytonutrients that offer significant antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer health benefits. Cranberries help prevent and treat urinary tract infections.
Fun Fact: Many cranberries are water-harvested, meaning that the cranberries are grown in bogs and floated in water to allow for easy harvesting. We’ve all seen the infamous cranberry juice commercials with men standing or falling in floating cranberries.
It turns out that this industry convenience for harvesting berries helps increase the anthocyanin content of cranberries (the phytonutrients that give cranberries their amazing red color). More sunlight striking the berries means greater concentrations of anthocyanins and more health benefits.

Let me repeat, I love making homemade blueberry cranberry sauce. As soon as fresh cranberries appear in the grocery store, I whip up a batch of this ridiculously good tasting sauce. It keeps for several days in the refrigerator – if it lasts that long. Blueberry Cranberry sauce goes great with chicken, pork, turkey, beef, or even fish. It is so healthy and downright pretty. Can’t beat that!
Make with other berries like blackberries, raspberries, strawberries or a berry medley.
Add a hint of fresh ginger for even more flavor.
Increase stevia to ¼ teaspoon if you like your blueberry cranberry sauce sweeter and less tangy.
